Emma Llewellyn joined HE2RO in April 2013 as the Program Manager and has since been promoted to Program Head and is now currently Head: Operations. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Edinburgh and Masters in Control of Infectious Diseases from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has over 13 years experience in the NGO sector, managing the implementation of public health programs and operational research; focusing predominantly on HIV/AIDS and TB. At HE2RO, she oversees all operational aspects of the organisation, including donor relations, contract development, sub-award management, budget development and monitoring, financial and administrative compliance and HR management. Emma has experience in managing contracts/grants with CDC, USAID, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and DfID. During her time in Kenya, she initially worked for a British NGO (Merlin) and played a key role in highlighting the health needs for socially, politically and geographically marginalised fishing communities around Lake Victoria and then went on to become the Director of one of the largest male circumcision programs for HIV prevention, managing over 200 staff and 6 offices throughout the country. In Swaziland she worked with the International NGO, PSI where she led the male circumcision and HIV testing programs.
